3D MODELING
3D modeling is the process of representing an object or surface in three dimensions using specialized 3D modeling software.

Many of the things we see in everyday life can be represented using 3D modeling. We have all probably benefited from 3D modeling technology, whether in architecture or video games.

During the 3D modeling process, we can determine a variety of characteristics such as the size, shape, and texture of an object. The process works with points, lines, and polygons to create 3D shapes in software.
A 3D model is essentially made up of vertices, which come together to form a mesh and act as the core of the 3D model. Each point on the model can be manipulated to change its shape.
By using the coordinate system, the software identifies the location of each vertical and horizontal point relative to a reference point.

When you want to digitally replicate an existing object or surface, you need a 3D scan, which can be done using photogrammetric methods or laser scanners, generating a point cloud that results in a BIM.
3D modeling can also highlight potential flaws in building structures in a way that 2D designs cannot, making it an essential procedure in modern building design.
What are the advantages of using 3D models?
- Visualization: the project is fully visualized in 3D, helping to improve understanding;
- Design and planning: a 3D model facilitates accurate planning, allowing professionals to visualize and refine their designs before implementation.
- Collaboration: communication is more efficient between designers, architects, planners, and various other participants.
- Better coordination: ideas can be better coordinated and implemented through 3D models
- Cost and time savings: thanks to transparency, there are fewer cases of corrections and revisions, which saves time and money.
- Creating a “digital twin”: 3D models serve as the basis for creating digital twins, enabling real-time monitoring, analysis, and management of physical assets.
