3D scanning – 3D model – 3D mesh
The 3D scan of the 27-meter-high building took five hours, and data processing took two hours. However, the result is incredible: a point cloud with 2 mm accuracy, georeferenced in the 1970 Stereographic projection system, and then a digital copy of the building.
Digitization in the construction industry
The construction industry is rapidly moving towards digitization, with the main goal being to save time and money. The potential for digitization in Romania is huge. The costs of construction materials have risen significantly. The solution lies in streamlining processes and improving control, and digitizing construction solves this problem.

The BIM GIS Concept team begins this extensive process by performing 3D scanning and creating a realistic (scale) 3D model with millimeter precision. This is the first step toward BIM (Building Information Modeling).
How does a BIM scan help us, especially in a new construction?
– to closely monitor the correct execution of the project
– to digitize all hidden elements (electrical, terminal, sanitary)
– to facilitate communication between different teams working on the project
– avoiding situations where work overlaps and quickly finding solutions
– optimizing costs related to construction material requirements
– creating a 3D model to be used throughout the construction process in interactive VR (virtual reality) or even AR (augmented reality) environment
